Covering over 1,400 hectares across three towns in Cavite, Lancaster New City is a massive township that is located only 14 kilometers away from Metro Manila. As one of the country’s newest suburban developments, Lancaster New City offers residents a calm and peaceful suburban environment, with its transportation hub keeping central business districts accessible to the community.
The Lancaster Review aims to shed light on the different developments happening within Lancaster, with a focus on their transportation hub, in this article.
An Overview of Lancaster New City
Although Lancaster New City is situated in the heart of Cavite, major roadways connect it to Metro Manila. Using the newly opened Cavite Expressway, residents can get to key areas such as the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in 30 minutes. Reviews from Lancaster residents in 2017 have shown that residents prefer this convenient location, as it puts Lancaster New City within a short driving distance of other areas for shopping and work, like the SM Mall of Asia complex, and Baclaran.
A review of Lancaster New City in 2017 has shown that it is designed to be a self-contained community with its own school, church, community center, and even an IT park for those working in the technology industry, alongside multiple residential phases within the development.
So far, the feedback from Lancaster New City residents has been positive, with residents citing that the transportation hub has given them some of the amenities of the city, while allowing them to live in a quiet suburban neighborhood.
Suburban neighborhoods also have lower instances of crime, as places like Lancaster focus on establishing a safe, family-friendly community for its residents. In Lancaster, 22 guard houses are strategically placed around the different neighborhoods to maintain safety and security. This contrasts with other residential developments in the area, which often do not have the same standard of security as Lancaster.
Connecting Lancaster New City to Metro Manila
A suburban neighborhood must be located away from the business centers, to maintain its quiet and calm atmosphere, and to avoid the traffic congestion prevalent in the metro. This can make it a bit challenging for suburban residents who have jobs in the central business districts of Metro Manila.
With the rising costs of gas and tax premiums on private vehicles, not to mention the increasingly congested traffic situation in the metro, the best option for homeowners living in the suburbs is to use public transportation.
However, public transportation in most developments in Cavite are lacking in terms of convenience and efficiency. To get around this problem, Lancaster New City developed the Lancaster Transportation Hub, an all-in-one transportation solution for its residents.
The Lancaster Transportation Hub offers multiple commuting options to residents, with shuttle buses from
Lancaster to Metro Manila, and vice versa. Lancaster New City also has a system of multicab shuttles within the development, which allows residents to go to and from the residential phases of the village.
To make commuting convenient for residents, the Lancaster Transportation hub offers a tap card system when riding their shuttle buses. After a successful soft launch in 2015, the Tap N’ Ride system is now Lancaster New City’s main transportation solution for residents.
Using this system, the Tap N’ Ride allows residents to ride a shuttle bus from the Lancaster Transport Hub to Coastal Mall in Manila with a tap of their E-TAP electronic card. This makes the process of paying for one’s fare faster, more convenient, and more organized. The E-Tap is a single journey pass available at 35 pesos from the transport hub booth.
Once residents purchase their single journey pass, they board the bus and tap their card on an electronic reader inside the bus, significantly reducing wait times and ensuring that all passengers have paid the fare.
The shuttle service is exclusive to Lancaster New City residents, giving them a non-stop express connection to the Metro while still enjoying the benefits of living in a quiet, suburban neighborhood.
With Metrolink and AAV buses also servicing the transportation hub, Lancaster residents will have no shortage of transport options to Manila. Buses leave the transportation hub every 30 minutes from 6am to 8am. After 8am, buses leave every hour. There are no buses from Lancaster Transportation Hub on Sundays.
Traveling Within Lancaster
The main avenue of Lancaster New City is a six-lane road that leads into and out of Lancaster, while the commercial and residential areas are serviced by 4-lane roads that are wide enough for vehicles of most sizes.
Compared to other residential developments in Cavite, reviews of Lancaster New City in 2017 have shown that residents prefer wider roads for their subdivision, as this gives them more space for activities.
Extra lanes are also provided on both sides of the road, providing vehicles with ample space to stop for emergencies. Two roundabouts inside Lancaster New City ensure that the flow of traffic runs smoothly. Additionally, traffic rules are strictly enforced inside Lancaster.
Once residents arrive in the Lancaster New City Transportation hub, a multicab transport service is available to take them to their destination within Lancaster. While most residential developments in Cavite use tricycles, Lancaster New City uses multicabs. Multicabs carry more people than a regular tricycle, making them more efficient and more environmentally friendly.
The multicabs can take passengers to the different residential phases, with other multicabs available to take residents from Lancaster to shopping malls in the vicinity of Lancaster New City, and vice versa. The Tap N’ Go system is also used when catching a ride on the multicabs, adding to the convenience of the system.
In the future, and with LTFRB approval, more transportation options – like shuttle vans and jeepneys – will be allowed to ply the Lancaster New City route, making the development even more accessible to Metro Manila.
With a growing community of young families, the Lancaster Transport Hub is essential to keeping residents connected, not only to the metro and the surrounding areas, but also to each other. Transportation in Lancaster has been critical in making sure that residents have access to the central business districts of Metro Manila, while enjoying the calm and peaceful atmosphere of a suburban neighborhood to call home.
